  The pandemic wave jolt has brought to the fore the huge shortage of trained manpower in the health sector and has pushed the government to train more healthcare workers, from assistants who help provide patients daily care to medical laboratory technicians and oxygen plant maintainers. The government has now started the process of identifying and training over 1,17,000 people for various healthcare roles which include — general duty assistants, emergency medical technicians, home healthcare-aid and medical equipment maintenance professionals, and medical laboratory technicians.
