The full form of DMLT is “Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology” which is a course in the field of paramedical science and the professionals who specialize in this field are called Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs).




What Is DMLT Course?

The DMLT course aims to improve the quality of the healthcare system by training students in how to identify, inspect and test cells, tissues, and body fluids, and aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases through various procedures and laboratory equipment.

There are two types of DMLT courses

  • Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT) which is a one-year program and includes five months of internship.
  • Advanced Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (ADMLT) which is a two-year program and includes 6 months of internship.

DMLT Course Eligibility

The course aspirants should have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% in class 10+2 in the science stream with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as the main subjects from a recognized Board or University.

The diploma holders can be recruited as:

  • Medical lab technicians in diagnostic lab settings
  • Lab managers or consultants
  • Healthcare administrators in nursing homes or hospitals
  • Academic trainers in colleges or universities
  • Medical writers for journals, news agencies, websites, and more

DMLT Course Salary

The trainee-level executives can directly join a laboratory or a hospital and earn anywhere between Rs.10,000 to Rs 20,000 per month. However, a well-experienced and skilled professional can earn more.

The government is the model employer that offers salaries between Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per month to DMLT holders.
